Je ne pouvais pas l’acheter, alors je l’ai fabriqué.
En 2021, mon frère transportait son pen et ses aiguilles en vrac dans son sac. Je suis ingénieur en développement, alors j’ai conçu un étui sur CAO et je l’ai imprimé en 3D. Ensuite, j’ai demandé à 150 personnes diabétiques ce qu’elles transportaient réellement : c’est de là que viennent les quatre emplacements pour aiguilles. De quoi tenir une journée.
Le capuchon du pen reste à l’intérieur de l’étui, parce qu’il n’arrêtait pas de rouler sur les tables des restaurants.
J’ai essayé de financer par crowdfunding le moule d’injection en 2022, mais j’ai échoué. Je l’ai donc financé moi-même et j’ai commencé avec 300 étuis. Puis il y a eu onze mois d’allers-retours d’échantillons, jusqu’à obtenir les bonnes tolérances.
C’est pourquoi ce n’est pas une pochette en tissu à 9 €. C’est un étui rigide moulé, conçu dans le Schleswig-Holstein, et 12 000 personnes en utilisent un.

Does my pen fit?

How many needles fit inside?
Four, held in a fixed ladder so nothing rattles around. That is one day worth — the number came from surveying 150 people with diabetes before the case was ever built.
Will it fit in a pocket or a handbag?
Yes. 18,2 x 4,8 x 3,2 cm, 105 g — roughly the size of a glasses case. It lies flat in a jacket pocket and will not snag in a bag.
What is it made of?
An injection-moulded ABS hardshell. Designed in northern Germany and built to be dropped, sat on, or thrown into a rucksack.
Does it keep my insulin cool?
No. The case does not cool and is not insulated — it protects and organises. If you need cooling, take a look at the DIAVY Fridge Pen Holder.
Does it fit safety needles?
Not yet. It currently fits standard pen needles. Safety needles are on our list — email us at hello@diavycase.com and we will let you know when that changes.
