Ik kon dit niet kopen, dus heb ik het zelf gemaakt.
In 2021 droeg mijn broer zijn pen en naalden los in zijn tas. Ik ben ontwikkelingsingenieur, dus ik tekende een etui in CAD en printte het met een 3D-printer. Daarna vroeg ik 150 mensen met diabetes wat ze daadwerkelijk meenemen; daar komen de vier naaldsleuven vandaan. Genoeg voor één dag.
De pendop blijft in het etui, omdat die steeds over restauranttafels rolde.
In 2022 probeerde ik via crowdfunding de spuitgietmatrijs te financieren, maar dat mislukte. Dus betaalde ik hem zelf en begon ik met 300 etuis. Daarna volgden elf maanden waarin monsters heen en weer gingen, totdat de toleranties klopten.
Daarom is dit geen stoffen etui van 9 euro. Het is een gevormde hardcase, ontworpen in Sleeswijk-Holstein, en 12.000 mensen dragen er een.

Does my pen fit?

How many needles fit inside?
Four, held in a fixed ladder so nothing rattles around. That is one day worth — the number came from surveying 150 people with diabetes before the case was ever built.
Will it fit in a pocket or a handbag?
Yes. 18,2 x 4,8 x 3,2 cm, 105 g — roughly the size of a glasses case. It lies flat in a jacket pocket and will not snag in a bag.
What is it made of?
An injection-moulded ABS hardshell. Designed in northern Germany and built to be dropped, sat on, or thrown into a rucksack.
Does it keep my insulin cool?
No. The case does not cool and is not insulated — it protects and organises. If you need cooling, take a look at the DIAVY Fridge Pen Holder.
Does it fit safety needles?
Not yet. It currently fits standard pen needles. Safety needles are on our list — email us at hello@diavycase.com and we will let you know when that changes.
